How To Submit Your Podcasts To iTunes
Jan 07
In todays blog post I’m going to show you “How To Submit Your Podcasts To iTunes” so that iTunes users will be able to download them to their computers, iPhones and iPods and subscribe to your Podcast feed.
You need to have an iTunes account from Apple.com to do this so if you haven’t got one, go and get one now and let’s get started…
1. Set up your Rss feed
To submit your Podcasts to ITunes you will need to set up your Rss feed. To do this head over to Feedburner.com and you’ll see a screen like the one below.

Type in your Rss feed and then select “I am a podcaster!”. Once you’ve done that click on the Next button to continue.
2. Give your feed a title
Once you’ve set up your Rss feed, you will receive a message like the one below saying that your feed has been verified and you will need to give it a name/title. Give it a title and then click on the next button to continue.

3. Remember your link
You will receive an Rss link from Feedburner. Make sure you save it or write it down as you will need it later on. Click Next to continue.

4. Enter your information
Here, you need to enter your Podcast title, description, keywords, email address and the url to your images. This dictates how your Podcast will look so make sure you spend a bit of time getting it right and once you have, click next to save.

For now we’ll just use our Rss feed as it is but you can continue to set up analytics with Feedburner if you want to. This will pick up any links you post on your blog and note them as podcasts to iTunes.
All you need to do is upload you files to your hosting account and then post them onto your blog and iTunes will automatically pick your files up as a new podcasts. There’s no need to submit them every time once iTunes has your RSS feed.
5. Go to iTunes
Open your desktop application that you got from iTunes when you created your account and go down to the iTunes Store.

6. Select Podcasts
It will take you to the page below where you need to choose Podcasts.

7. Submit your Podcasts

Click on the “Submit a Podcast” link and it will begin to submit your podcast.
8. Enter your feed url

You now need to enter the url of your RSS feed which you saved earlier and click the continue button to continue.
9. Review and submit your Podcast to iTunes
Once you’ve entered your Rss feed, you will be taken to the page below where the content of your feed will be displayed for you to review.

Choose a category for your Podcast to go in from the drop-down box provided and then make sure every-thing’s exactly how it’s supposed to be. Once you’re happy to proceed, then click on the submit button to submit your Podcast.
That’s it you’re done…
The submission process is over and once it’s been approved, your Podcast will be on iTunes for everybody to see.

Hi Dawn
You made that very easy to follow along to that even I could do it
Have you had much joy with Podcasting?
I’ve been thinking about adding Audio to the way I deliver some of my content. I’ve only ever used AudioBoo in the past, but using itunes will probably have a higher perceived value.
Thanks
Steve

Hi Steve
Nice to see you over here…
I haven’t recorded any Podcasts myself but I have uploaded some to iTunes for a transcription client and it is easy to do.
You should definitely add audio to your products as a lot of people like to listen to them on their mp3 players and ipods etc while they’re on the move and theres lots of different Podcasting sites you can upload them too.
How’s your 2011 plans going?
Are you still on track?
