Fans went crazy over the news that Rihanna will be headlining the Super Bowl halftime show in February after long anticipating the mogul’s return to music — and they have her five-month-old son to thank for her motivation.

The 34-year-old talked to Extra about her experience as a mother ahead of her Savage X Fenty Vol. 4 show, opening up about just how much she’s loving her new role.

“It is crazy. It is amazing. It’s wild. It’s weird. It’s all of those things, all at once. The best feeling,” she said of becoming a parent with boyfriend A$AP Rocky. “The most love I’ve ever known. I can’t describe it. It’s new. It’s fascinating. Every step, every facial expression, every new milestone. I love it.”

She went on to explain how motherhood has changed her.

“I’m patient now… I thought I was getting better at patience, but this will sit you down. You are forced to be patient as a mom, as a parent, just in general,” she said. “Your tolerance level goes down, but your patience goes up, if that makes any sense.”

Another phenomenon that she’s experienced since becoming a mom is feeling motivated to hit another goal in her career. Luckily for RiRi’s fans, that means a return to the stage.

“I feel like it was now or never, really. There’s this weird s*** that happens when you become a mom, that you just unleash or unlock other parts of your superpower, you feel like you can take on or you could do anything,” she explained. “I wanted to take on the challenge and I wanted to do something that would force me to get back onstage.”

It isn’t the first time that Rihanna has talked about motherhood inspiring her to reach new heights with her creativity. While she was pregnant, she told Bustle that she felt more “rebellious” when it came to her style choices, and “challenged” herself to push the boundaries of maternity clothing. With Savage x Fenty she hopes to inspire others to do the same by making a collection of wearable pieces for everybody.

“That’s important because I want to feel sexy and I want to feel represented. I want to feel included. I want to feel like I don’t want to feel intimidated by what’s on the rack or what’s the score … I want to know that There’s something for me, something for my body … There’s something that was going to work for me,” she told Extra. “I think everyone has that perspective, so I don’t want to deny anyone the experience to feel sexy or empowered. That’s the Savage brand, and it’s going to be our brand forever.”

When it comes to parts of her body that she’s loving to dress these days, Rihanna told InStyle that working on her clothing line has definitely allowed her to explore that even further.

“I’ve learned about how to compliment your body in different sorts of shapes,” she said, noting that she has a new favorite asset after becoming a mother. “I had a baby. Let’s be real. Now it’s my booty because I got one.”
